The United Nations heard this week that Israel had produced no evidence whatsoever that any staff of the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNWRA) had anything to do with Hamas or the October 7 attack. Yet, as a result of these spurious claims, the United States, Britain, Germany, the Netherlands and several other countries withdrew their standing financial commitment to the agency. This has brought UNRWA to the brink of collapse.
Yet, as it emerged this week, all the names, backgrounds and CVs of the 32,000 UNRWA employees were always forwarded to the Israeli authorities. No questions were ever raised.
