In common with much of the rest of the world, South African media freedom is being eroded. And a prime focus in the battle for freedom of information and of the Press is the SABC. It is a battle that should be joined by everyone hoping for a better, more democratic future.

The poisonous belief that unity of an organisation must be maintained at all costs is the primary cause of the present crisis in South Africa's governing ANC. It is a concept that became embedded in that organisation from its earliest years in exile and it allowed corrupt elements to thrive.
