The hidden entrepreneurs
Entrepreneurial spirit has again been hailed by South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa, but within the context of the digital revolution, of tablets, coding and bullet trains. But excellent examples of this very spirit are, are mostly ignored. Yet they are hidden in plain sight among te waste pickers and the growinbg legions of the working hjomeless.

We are constantly reminded that today we live in a world village of the 21st Century. Yet, at the same time, politicians often seem oblivious of the fact, their mindsets stuck in a world 40 and more years ago. South Africa is no exception but, perhaps with promised jobs and investment "summits" some answers and appropriate action will follow.

Inflammatory propaganda, opportunistic interventions and a narrow, finger pointing focus engaged in by everyone from opposition politicians and government ministers to mine management and some campaigning groups, has added to the tension following the bloodshed at Lonmin's Marikana mine. It is high time to sort out some facts from often self-serving propaganda.
Ripping good reasons for an independent media

An free and unfettered media provides the only antidote to propaganda serving narrow political and corporate agendas. This issue has become highly pertinent as the Irish-owned Independent News Media group in South Africa comes up for sale.
